Rosebud Cricket Club | Since 1895

The Rosebud Cricket Club has a proud history reaching back to it’s establishment in 1895. To this day the Club continues to play an important role in the local community, providing the game of cricket to hundreds of boys and girls, and men and women, in a family friendly environment.

The Club participates in the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association (MPCA) and during season 2024/25 expects to field 4 senior cricket sides and 8 junior sides. The Club also runs a Woolworths Cricket Blast program which is a great way for boys and girls aged up to 10 years of age to learn the basics of the game and have a lot of fun with other children their age.

The 1st XI took on Seaford at home and got off to a great start with a run out in the first over. Jak Jowett led the way claiming 2 wickets. All bowlers were tidy and bowled well in partnerships keeping Seaford to 7/131 off their alotted 40 overs. Going into bat once again it was Jarrod Hicks leading the way with 63 and was well supported by Paddy Nagel who played a captains knock of 39* to help steer the team home for a good win. The boys are off to a good start and are keen to get into the first 2 dayer of the season against Mt Eliza at home.

The 2nds travelled to Seaford where they bowled the opposition out for 130. The twos had a great win as we welcomed new player Charters Harding to the team. The twos take on Mt Eliza @ Mt Eliza

The 3rds were out on the back oval hosting Mt Martha in what was Billy Longs 100th game for the club. Mt Martha went on to make 5/205 off their 40 overs. Noah Giarrusso picked up 2 wickets whilst the milestone man Billy Long took 1. It was great to see Andrew Digregorio take his first wicket over the weekend. Unfortunately for the 3rds they fell short in the run chase. Jacob Peirce on his return to cricket after several seasons not playing top scored with 42. We welcomed First gamers Gerard Wilson and Anurada Rathnayake who made their first runs for the Sharks. The 3rds will look to bounce back in the first 2 dayer of the season when they travel to Long Island.

Another positive weekend for the club and good seeing a number of people returning to play. We look on to this week where our Umder 12s and newly formed Girls team get their seasons started. Good luck to all teams and go sharks 🦈🦈🦈
