Delivering improved facilities for Rosebud sporting groups.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor David Gill and Seawinds Ward Councillors Antonella Celi and Frank Martin joined the Rosebud Football, Cricket and Netball Clubs, to officially open the new and improved sports facilities at Olympic Park Reserve, Rosebud.
This $3.1 million project has provided much needed improvements to the pavilion to cater for the current and future needs of the local sporting community.
The existing social room office and toilets have been refurbished, plus the addition of a new scoring box, 20 sealed vehicle parking spaces and external landscaping upgrades. Works also included new pedestrian paths and an upgrade of utility services to the site.
Other upgrade works include:
six multipurpose change rooms
unisex toilet and shower facilities
first aid room
external public toilets.
The new building features sustainable design with durable materials and low energy lighting, as well as windows orientated for natural lighting and ventilation instead of using mechanical heating and cooling.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor David Gill said “these important upgrades have been completed as part of Council’s Sports Pavilion Strategy which requires facilities to meet current and future needs of the community and sporting clubs”.
Councillor Brooks said “temporary portable changerooms were in place for several years at Olympic Park Reserve – this was a much-needed upgrade for our thriving sporting groups”.
Councillor Celi said “the Seawinds Ward Councillors have worked with Shire Officers and key stakeholders from Rosebud Senior and Junior Football, Cricket and Netball Clubs to ensure the best possible outcome for our community. The new facilities now have more space for groups and clubs to expand their membership and allow greater flexibility to schedule games”.
Councillor Martin said “these improvements are a great resource for our local sporting community. I look forward to seeing the facilities used for many years to come”.
